WHAT IT IS – Skill Based Assessment and Training System. The Independent Living Skills (ILS) System is a software assisted, systematic and competency-based approach to life skills training. The system combines time saving technology with a comprehensive assessment and reporting package to produce skill plans and transition plans tailored to the individuals needs. The ILS is in widespread use by hundreds of programs nationwide and Canada. Many states are currently using the ILS system as their primary tool to assess and teach independent living skills. WHAT IT DOES – Comprehensive Tool for I.L. Skills Training Not many succeed alone. Most people who have managed to make it in life had someone to show them the way. The ILS V10 System serves a dual purpose. Very simply, it assesses the client and enables them to focus on specific skills they need, and it allows you to assist them in that effort. The ILS System also makes it possible to easily and quickly produce individualized transition plans. The Independent Living Skills System will: Assess life skills, Create detailed skill plans based on assessment results, Create I.L. transition plans, Includes extensive client demographic info section, Provides a valuable database of information and includes user defined fields to capture program specific info. The ILS V10 enhancements increase productivity by giving people greater control over their information. HOW IT WORKS – Focuses on Skills Client Needs. The core of the ILS V10 is the Assessment for Life Skills, a 16 category assessment designed for individuals 14 years and older. The ILS begins with the administration of the life skills assessment. The assessment can be given in a paper format or taken directly on the computer by the individual. The software then generates a detailed skill plan focusing on needs, goals, and specific strategies for life skills training in each assessed category.
